Music Magazine Construction- Contents Page Final Draft

This is my final contents page for my music magazine. I am very happy with the overall outcome as I feel it is very professional looking. Compared to the last draft, there has not been many changes due to the fact that I was very happy with the overall outcome of the last draft. A few remarks from my peers helped me complete this to the best of my ability and I think this cover page fits in with the typical house style.

My teacher gave me some advice on what to change on my cover page so I took it on-board and created the next draft of my cover page. This will be the last draft before I finish off the last touches and produce my final cover page. I am very happy with this draft as it is a lot more realistic than my last draft.

Music Magazine Construction- Double Page Spread Inspiration

I was very much inspired my the use of the L from Lady Gaga placed int he background of the DPS for Q Magazine. When I created my DPS for Harmony, I wanted to incorporate these as I knew the background would look very bare. I think the use of the letters make it very much realistic.

In class, I recieved feedback of my front cover, contents page, double page spread cover and double page spread. I printed them and laid them out and then recieved feedback from my peers.

Love the cover of the dps! Also the dps is great only change I would make is the first page being white and perhaps it fading into grey instead of the black. Good house style throughout and all match. Make text on cover larger.

Would change the red and white writing under the image on your last page and the images to the right of your last page are blurred. Would make the puff better other than that its really good! I like the first two pages of the dps, really nice and different.

More cover lines on cover page, the contents page is really good. The image on the first page of your dps is a bit blurry and make the puff stand out more.

House style isn’t very clear and images are all slightly blurry.

Font is too plain for the genre selection.

Use better fonts.

Good colour scheme used throughout , lots of pictures with captions to clearly show what is going on, the masthead is unique and good for  a music magazine, the dps is very realistic and would get a mark band 4, the large L behind the text gives a realistic look.

Good use of colour scheme throughout – clear house style, love the pictures used throughout.

Front cover is a little empty.

Contents is very easy to navigate around but contains perhaps a little too much information.

Double page spread is very good, good house style .

Overall very good magazine first draft.

Music Magazine Construction- Contents Page Second Draft

This is my second draft from my contents page. After receiving feedback from the class I took it on board and made a few changes. The biggest change /i made was removing the red box around the features and placing in two red lines. With the red box i think ti made the contents page look to full and cramped and it also made it look quite childish. I changed the colour of the Dyson image to black and white due to some people saying that there was too much colour. I changed it to black and white because they are neutral colour's which are two out of the three dominant colours in my magazine. The old image had too much colour in it like pink, yellow, green and blue which made it not fit in. When I received feedback from my teacher I added in some extra things like the lines under the regular/every month section to make it fit in and I find that this makes the contents page more accessible. I am very happy with this draft, and I am going to attempt to receive more feedback in case there is anything thing else to change that I have left out.

Music Magazine Construction- Contents First Draft

This is my first draft of my contents page. I am very happy with the overall outcome. For my next draft I am going to try get some feedback so I can try make it as professional as I can. Again, I created this using Photoshop. I used this software as it is very straightforward and easy to use. For my double page spread I am going to use Photoshop along with Adobe InDesign, so I have a variety of softwares durng the construction in my media music magazine.

I chose Photoshop to be the main software that I use for the construction process of my front cover. The reason I chose Photoshop was because I studied Media Studies for GCSE and had a very good knowledge of how to use Photoshop. I will use InDesign for my contents page and double page spread to vary the different pieces of software that I use.

Music Magazine Construction- New Front Cover- First Draft

Here I have a new draft of my front cover. I like this front cover a lot compared to my old one. It looks so much more professional and realistic with all the various different elements I have put in it. I can vividly see the changes I need to make for my next draft, but overall I am very happy with the outcome.

  

Music Magazine Construction- Slogan

I created this font on the website Font Space to use as my slogan. One thing I am going to change during the editing process is the colour of the word harmony. I am going to change it to red to make it stand out and match my colour scheme.

Music Magazine Construction- Barcode

I created a barcode for the bottom of my magazine as it makes it more personalised and real looking, especially with it having the name and issue number of the magazine at the bottom. I created this barcode using a barcode generator online. It was very simple and easy to use.

I have used this as my new masthead. The reason I changed my masthead is because the old one was very unprofessional. I am glad I did this as when I added my masthead to my new cover, it looked so much more professional and appealing. 

Music Magazine Construction-Front Cover First Draft

With the overall outcome of the first draft of my front cover I am not very happy with it. I need to think about the redesign of the flat-plan and I also need to take some new images. I do like the font saying La Cricca and the text going through the middle. I will use this in my next draft. I was stuck for time, so I think this is one of the reasons for not being able to produce my front cover to the best of my ability.

I have decided to retake the photos for my front cover again, because I know what I have done wrong and how I can make it better for my second and my final draft.

Music Magazine Construction- Harmony Magazine Logo

I decided to create a logo for my magazine that I could place on the contents page and at the bottom of each page, especially only my double page spread. I got this idea from the issue of Q Magazine I bought, where they have the white Q in a red box beside the page number on each page. Even though it is small it stood out to me as it was very eye catching.

I used the ying yang symbol as it represents harmony, and added different effects like the music chords to make it symbolic that it is a music magazine. The H is the capital letter of my music magazines name "Harmony" and the magazine is at the side because I want my magazine to be like Q with many different brands such as awards and their radio station.

I created this symbol using Photoshop and I found it very accessible and the tools very easy to use. It was time consuming, but I am very happy with the final product.
